Thank you for suggesting the National Archives as an information source. I have obtained the following from family records and a search of US Census records. Andrew J. Perkins never married according to Elias Lee Perkins (my great uncle and person who wrote this family history February 12, 1948). He is reported to have been in the Civil war; records indicate an Andrew J. Perkins in the 7th Illinois Calvary which is the unit to which his brother John Leroy Perkins belonged. Muster out of Company I 14th Illinois Calvary 16 September 1865. Listed in the: 1850 US Census as age 5 living with his father and mother, brother Jessa, sisters Jane, Nancy and Melvina (age 19) in Wakefield Shelby County, Illinois. 1860 US Census as age 17 living with father and mother plus sisters Jane and Nancy in Dry Point Township, Shelby County, Illinois. 1870 US Census as age 27 living with his father and mother in Dry Point Township, Shelby County, Illinois. Fourth resident is a woman named L. Peryman age 22. 1880 US census record at age 35 living with the Andrew J. Moore and Rebecca Moore family in Dry Point Township Shelby County Illinois working as a farm laborer. Taken 12 June 1880. No 1890 US Census records found in my source.
