Corrected Preface to Above Posting: Who Are Parents of (Stephen) Giles Letcher?--Go to Above Posting for Body of Posting
(Stephen) Giles Letcher is said to have been born in Northern Ireland abt 1710 and he was married to Hannah Hughes who was born in Henrico county Virginia abt 1715-20 and they were married in Richmond about 1739; however, no evidence of Giles Letcher’s existence predates 1739 and no information regarding his parents is documented or available to me which presently I am earnestly seeking; oral and published information indicates that he was born in Northern Ireland and that his mother was a “Miss Giles” and that he was a descendant of the ancient Leche family either from Cheshire, Derbyshire, Berkshire, or Devonshire. For reference purposes throughout the body of this work which is posted on the above line of this forum, I refer to Giles Letcher II as the one known to be born abt 1710 allegedly in Northern Ireland and his father will be referred to as Giles I who would have been born abt 1685.
