Laurence, My great uncle was Judge Alvin Perkins. He was born in Sangerville and died a few years ago in Guilford, ME. He had three sons, I don't know their names or if they are still in that area or not. They are the closest line to my own. However if I go way back my great-great-great-grandfather was Joseph Perkins, Jr born 1816/1817 in Strafford, NH died 16 July 1887 in Atkinson, ME. Joseph Jr, his parents, sister, and his brother Samuel Perkins, born 1802/1803 in Strafford, NH died sometime after 1870 probably in Orrington,ME (he had lived there many years), all arrived in Milton,ME(now Orneville) sometime between 1830 and 1840. Samuel and his wife then moved to Orrington, ME. probably between 1840 and 1850. I haven't checked the 1850 census for Orrington but I know there were no Perkins left in Orneville in 1850. If you have Perkins in Orrington, ME today they are probably descended from Samuel Perkins. He had three wives: Betsy ?; Diana Brewer; and Rebecca ? Coombs. His children that I have listed are: George (a family name)born 1853/1854 in Orrington; Ida born 1856/1857 in Orrington; Samuel Jr born 1859/1860 in Orrington; Joseph (again a family name)born 1861/1862 in Orrington; Elmira (after her father's sister);born 1863/1864 in Orrington; Ora born 1865/1866 in Orrington; Horatio Samuel born 1867/1868 in Orrington; Diana born March 1870 in Orrington her mother died in childbirth.
This is as far as I have taken Samuel's line of descent. I hope it helps you and if you have any other questions I might be able to answer, feel free to use the forum or email me.
