In 1976, I found a letter (from one Perkins brother to another) reporting the capture of Aaron Burr in (Texas?) and receipt of a substantial reward. The letter was in the abandoned/unoccupied home of Benjamin Perkins' g-g-grandson. Benjamin Perkins was b. 1744 in Goochland Co, VA, m. 1768 in same, d. 1815 in Garrard Co, KY.In this home was a hidden crawl space behind a bedroom wall where stood boxes of old letters and photographs. I had been learning about U.S. history in JR High and assumed that my great aunt new about these items in her father's old home. She was still living on the ranch in eastern Oregon. When I got started researching the family a few years ago, I asked her about the items in the old house. She didn't remember seeing anything mentioning the capture of Burr, but suggested I contact her nephew who was handed most of the family history. Now that someone else has mentioned the Burr-Perkins connection, this is something I will look into.
