Hi,
My great-great grandfather was William W Perdue b.1871, Ohio, d 17 Jul 1901 (struck by lightning while building a barn, have newspaper article and obit), son of Jo(h)nathan.
William died a year and 3 months after the birth of my grandmother (Gladys Marie (Perdue) Taggart). The three children (Gladys, Forrest and Ruth) were parceled out to family while William's wife, Jessie Walker, remarried and had 6 or 7 more children. My grandmother was an adult in her 30's before she was reunited with her brother and sister.
My father remembers meeting an Uncle of his mother's named James Perdue who was a boxer, travelled around with the carnivals of the day where he would fight "all comers".Is this be the same James?
The other family "legend" was that William W. was 1/2 or 1/4 American Indian.Do any of you fellow Perdue decendants have any corroborating evidence of this?
