Since I am the one who used Gayle as a source, I am here to explain what was misinterpretted from my web page. This is an exact quote...
840. William Perdue , Jr., born Abt. 1735 in Henrico Co. VA (Source: Blankenship Ancestors, by Gayle K. Blankenship); died 1838 in poss. Montgomery Co. VA (Source: #1 WFT Family Archive CD). He was the son of 1680. William Perdue , Sr. and 1681. Mary Hatchett. He married 841. Mary Powell Abt. 1755 (Source: Blankenship Ancestors, by Gayle K. Blankenship).

Blankenship).I quoted Gayle twice, the first time on the birth of William, which is in her book, page 318 and is listed there as an estimate.
I also listed it as an estimate by placing 'Abt.' before the date. The second quote is the one that is confusing everybody. The second quote does NOT refer to the name Mary Powell, but to the date of c1755 which is also listed in Gayle's book, same page number.I am assuming it is an estimate based on the age of William's children.Gayle states in her book that William's wife's name was traditionally Mary but that there is no evidence to prove it.The last name Powell was given to me by another researcher whose identity has since been lost.Once again, Gayle DOES NOT say that William md. Mary Powell, and I did not mean to make it sound that way.It is just the way my software printed it out. When you upload a report to FTM Online, you have no control over what it says or how it looks. But if Gayle wishes, I will remove the report and fix it so that it shows that the name Mary Powell is a secondary source, rather than a quote from her book.My apologies to Gayle whom I have the greatest respect for and to anyone else whom I have confused.
