Thanks Kate; I rechecked his marriage certificate and got his death certificate and, yes, 1845 sounds much more factual for his birth (it looked like age 51, but must have been age 31 on his marriage certificate). Charles Frederick died June 3, 1926 in Victoria, having outlived both his 1st and 2nd wife (I think he may actually have married a 3rd time, but am not sure yet). Now, he alwys spelled his name Beaven, which is on his marriage certificate, as well as on his tombstone. I wonder when he decided to change the spelling and why - did any of the other offspring do the same, do you know? Please keep me posted if you find out who his children were by his first marriage (I just have Mary Ella) as well as his first wife's first name. Thanks, Sue
