There are a total of 7 land patents for Joel, James & Jesse Peeples (Peoples, Peebles), all dated 1839, except one is dated 1835, for land that is now in Lamar Co. AL. Back then it was Fayette Co. The book Peebles, Ante 1600 - 1962 mentions Jesse in Fayette Co. 1840 but makes no mention of these land patents (as far as I know) nor of James and Joel being there. She mentions James and Joel are in Choctaw Co. MS by 1840 and they are. Jesse is in the 1850 census. I'm assuming others have seen these and they are the sons of Joel, Sr., son of Reuben. My question is does anyone have info on when these lands were sold? Or differing info as to who these men are?
