Lester G. 'Shorty' Peoples, 89, born Nov. 9, 1919, passed
away Tuesday, January 27, 2009, at Morristown-Hamblen
Healthcare System, Morristown, TN.
Lester was a member of First Church of God where he had
served on the Board of Trustees, Vice Chair, Treasurer,
and other positions as well. Lester was whole-heartedly
dedicated to God’s cause. He loved his church and his
wife. Lester will be missed by his many friends. He had
retired from Bob Bales Ford.
He was the son of the late T. J. and Lucy Peoples of the
Valley Home Community. He also was preceded in death by
his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rev. and Mrs. L. D.
Skeen; and brother, Dice Peoples.
He is survived by his wife of 68 wonderful years, Aileen
Skeen Peoples; brother, Edward Peoples; sister-in-law, Ann
Peoples; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday,
January 30, 2009, at Westside Chapel Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 31,
2009, at First Church of God, 450 West Economy Road, with
the Rev. Kevin Shelton and the Rev. Willis Bowers
officiating. Interment will follow in Jarnagin Cemetery.

Morristown, TN.
