John Cornish Pentecost
John Cornish Pentecost was born June 3, 1835 in St. Keverne, Cornwall, England; the son of John Pentecost and Susannah Cornish. He was said to have once served in the British Navy. Residing briefly in Gloucester, Massachusetts he traveled to Boston and enlisted for one year as a seaman, on May 3, 1861 ‘under an assumed name’.
