Thanks for that information on Frances Pentecost LEWIS.
Has anymore been determined about who "Catey" Pentecost wife of Frances Pentecost was before her marriage. Any news about whether she remarried after Frances' death?
I attended a genealogy seminar held by the Univ. of Va.
where I asked about the three young Pentecost men (Frances, T. and Scarborough)in the Tax rolls who had entries, but the tax was charged to someone else. The speaker suggested it might have had something to do with the Vestry. I do recognize John Verrell or his son (J. V. Jr.)as being a "vestryman" in Brunswick Co., St. Andrews Pariah.
Another possibility is that the young men may have rented the fields, and the "property tax" was charaged to the landowner.
I have been reading lately about the Civil War Battles that occurred near Petersburg, and read much about the "Lewis Farm." How is your Lewis family connected with this farm, or are they?
