Perhaps the following will help you fill in the ancestry of the Mary Penrod you are searching for. Her full name was Mary Polly Penrod. Her grandfather was John Penrod, Sr., b. 1726 in Fredrick Co., MD, d. Apr. 13, 1799 in Somerset Co., PA. In 1746 he married Catherine Barrone, b. 1730 in MD and d. 1808 in Muhlenberg Co., KY.
John Penrod, Sr., and Catherine (Caty) had the following 11 children, all born in Maryland. In the spring of 1773 John, Sr., moved the family to the area of Somerset, PA where he and his oldest son, John, Jr., and his son-in-law, John Vancel (married to his daughter Mary) had been trappers and fur traders for many winters, becoming one of the first pioneer families to settle the area.

Mary Polly Penrod's father was John Penrod, Jr., b. 1748 in MD, d. Sep. 5, 1836 in Boonville, Warrick Co., IN. He married Sarah Davis Aug., 8, 1768 in Somerset, PA. She was born 1749 in Franklin, PA, d. May 9, 1836 in PA. (Apparently John, Jr. moved to Indiana after Sarah's death in PA.)

Mary Polly Penrod was born Mar. 11, 1780 in Somerset, PA, died Aug. 31 1873, buried Cutler, Carroll, IN. She married John Bateman abt 1800. He was born abt 1779 in Berlin, Somerset, PA and died 1822 in Muskingham, OH. They had the following 6 children during the 22 years of their marriage.
Isaac Bateman - b. 1810, Somerset, PA - d. Sep. 1889
John G. Bateman - b. Feb. 26, 1811 PA - d. Feb. 25, 1900
William Bateman - b. 1814 PA - d. Apr. 18, 1889
Elijah Bateman - b. July 24, 1815 Zanesville, OH - d. 1889 Andalucia, IL
James Bateman - b. Jan 13, 1818 Washington, OH - d. Aug. 31, 1860 Muskingham, OH
Penrod Bateman - b. Mar. 24, 1820 Muskingham Co., OH - d. Dec. 8, 1862 Saint Paul, Ramsey, MN
Mary Polly (Penrod) Bateman then married Joseph Cobb Oct. 15, 1826, four years after her first husband's death. Joseph Cobb was born abt 1772 in NJ. I have no record of the Cobb children.
