Thanks for taking the time to give us your opinion on the origin of the Penrod name. I have been bothered by the fact that almost everyone in these posts traces their heritage back to one man, Johannes Wilhelm Poenradt, who came to the Frederick, Maryland area about 1700. We can find records of hin, but surely there must have been more than one Penrod who migrated to America from Europe. In spite of the fact that the "three brothers" story has been shot down, isn't it logical that Penrods or Poenradts or Penroses migrated to and from Scotland, Ireland, Germany and places all over the world map, changing the spelling of their name as they went. We know that officials who worked in immigration facilities along the East Coast often could not spell well, nor could the immigrants themselves, so there must be many different spellings of Penrod. Anyway, we're not likely to ever trace the Penrod name back to Adam but we can be pretty sure somewhere down the line from Adam was a boy child with no first and last name but who was called to dinner by a name something like PENWHAT or PANRODE or PINROOD or PAINRAN or.........
