According to the 1900 and 1910 census records in Malheur Co. Oregon, Paul's father was Alexander D. Penrod, born in Nevada.

1910 Census:
Alexander D. Penrod 40 NV ILL SC farmer
Jessie M. Penrod 37 Utah OH OH married 17 years (7 children; 4 living)
Floyd Penrod 15 Utah
Elvin A. Penrod 13 NV
Paul H. Penrod 9 OR
Emma Penrod 15 mos. OR

In the 1920 Census,
Paul H. Penrod is single and living in Oklahoma City, OK, working as a lineman for the telephone company.
