My mothers maiden name was Penney, her great grandparents were from Carbonear. His name was either Archibald or John Penney and he married Eliza/Elizabeth Butt. They moved to the Bay of Islands. We believe before the 1879. As this was when their son Thomas Richard was born and we believe he was born in the BOI's area. They also had Anne (married Dick Devance), Levena (married Charlie Legge), May (married William Anderson), John (married Emma Murphy), Lila (Married George Loder), Dorothy/Bessie (married Charles Ruth), and at least one child that died.

Can anyone help me out on researching this family? Especailly while still in the Carbonear area?

Miranda
