Penner (Mennonite) DNA project

Hello Everyone,

I have noticed that many of the Penners (and Penner relatives) posting to this message board are of Mennonite background.
I would like to let you all know that I have started a Mennonite Penner DNA project for genealogical purposes. This is part of the larger Mennonite DNA project. For more information and some of the results so far you can go the following website: http://www.familytreedna.com/public/menno/
The simple test (swab the inside of your cheek with a q-tip like device) looks at certain parts of the Y-chromosome which is passed from father to son (just like surnames).
The 9 Penner men tested so far, all of whom can not be connected with existing documentation, all appear to be related and probably descend from a common ancestor who lived 500 - 700 years ago.
I am willing to cover the fee and make all of the arrangements for any male Penner volunteers. If you are interested in this project please contact me.

Glenn Penner
