In looking for the Pennell name in searching the various census records I found Gilbert, or someone named Gilbert Pennell who was the right age, working as a farm hand in Wiscounsin during the 1880 census. His parents were both born in PA. He was I suspect, working for and living with a family from Sweden with the last name of Reuterskield.
I did find Gilbert again back in Wayne county records, that he was buried in Arlington Cemetery in 1920. I found in RootsWeb.com information from a Richard Bently that gives names and dates of Gilbert's wife, children and grandchildren. It also shows Jonah and Sally, (though they don't distinquish between the first Sally and the second Sally), as well as all the siblings listed, Milton and Mary are listed as well.
I also found a Wayne County Cemetery listing, (check http://www.rootsweb.com/~pawayne/)http://www.rootsweb.com/~pawayne/), that gives information from the grave markers there about the Pennells that lived and died in the area. Your Mary doesn't appear to be there which would coinside with her moving away to the N.E. just as Milton moved to Missouri and is not found there either. Yet that listing shows many of the family that stayed in the area of Wayne County. I hope this helps. Do you know where your Mary ended up exactly and what children she had? I would assume it is the same Mary unless we can find a reason why it isn't. Thanks, - Jim Brown
