The information I have found indicates that there were two (2) John Penn's.
John Penn, the Signer of the Declaration of Independence, is not a direct descendent of William Penn.John Penn, the Signer, was Born in Caroline County, Virginia on May 17, 1740.He Died September, 1788 at the Age of 47 near Stovall, NC.He Represented North Carolina and was a lawyer by profession. He retired because of ill health. He was the Son of Moses Penn and Catherine Taylor Penn and a Relative of Edmund Pendleton.John Penn married Susannah Lyme and they had three (3) children.
The other John Penn was a Direct Descendent of William Penn, his grandson. This John Penn was Born in 1729 and Died in 1795.I am trying to find out who his father and mother were and the names of John Penn's children.I am also trying to find out the names of William Penn's (the Founder of Pennsylvania) children.William Penn was married twice and according to what I found out, he had 15 children, eight by his first wife and seven by his second wife.Four of the seven children by his second wife died in infancy.
John Penn may have died on February 9, 1795 in Philadelphia, but I'm not sure. Also, he may have been married to Ann Allen. His father might have been Richard Penn.I'm not sure of this information.
Hope this information helps.
