DIED At the residence of Lewis SPAIN, near Kings’s Point, in Dade county, Mo., Sept 26th , 1881, Mrs. Elizabeth PENN, wife of the late Wm. PENN, of whom Pennsylvania Prairie derived its name. The deceased was born in North Carolina, February 26th 1792, her parents moved to Madison county, Tennessee, where she was married to William PENN in 1808, and where they lived until the fall of 1833, when they came to Southwest Missouri and settled on the South side of Pennsylvania Prairie, where Maj. Bishop now lives. She professed religion in 1813 and joined the Methodist Church – of which she lived a faithful member until death. She was the mother of thirteen children and ninety-three grandchildren. – there is only four of here children now living, three of whom live in this county – Mrs. Lewis Spain, Mrs. Absolom RENFRO and Mrs. Vincent CARRICO – one in Texas, Mrs. Joseph WILLIAMS.
