Hello,
I'm writing to see if anyone recognizes these names and could help me out to confirm that my research is correct.
My ggrandmothers name is Mary Augusta Penn(1888-1934), her parents are James C Penn (b. abt 1867 in Ohio) and Lillie E Kirby(b. abt. 1867 in Virginia). This is what I know.
I believe James' parents are Charles Penn and Christine Ward.
I'm basing this off of the fact that in the 1930 census that I connected James and Lillie to Charles and Christine, it shows a James married to a Lillie, with the approximate dates that I would expect them to be born based off of Mary's birth date.
On that 1930 census, it shows that James' father was born in Pennsylvania, while his mother was born in Ohio. This information corresponds with the information from the 1880 census that lists a Charles Penn and Christine Ward have the same birth places as James' parents, and it has James as a child of Charles and Christine.
My next journey is to try and find Charles and Christine's parents. From what I can tell, Charles' parents were born in New Jersey, while Christine's parents were born in Ohio. And thats to the extent of my research so far. Well, regarding the Penn's anyways.
