Joseph Penick was my great-great grandfather, who fought in the Civil war on the Union side, discharged 8/10/1865 at Ft. Smith, AR, first married to Jane E., who died 1/16/1888 in Logan County. Their children were Jesse L., George W., and Margaret. George W. was my great-grandfather married and begat John Monroe Penix (by the way, the name was changed because of a lover's dispute from Penick to Penix during this time).

John M. married Mary Cecil Rowland, who begat the following: Deleia Caroline (now deceased), Thomas Monroe (now deceased), Lucy Loretta (now deceased), George Alonzo (my father, now deceased), Mary Lucille (alive), John J. (now deceased), Edna Mae (now deceased), Calvin Lester (now deceased) and William Howard (now deceased).

Does this help?
