To
Jo Penick Dejong,Thank you very much for your kind replies! If you have roots in kentucky, iowa,Ill.,or a few other near-by states in timber & banking then , we are conected some-how. Chariton & Burlington,Iowa-Oquawka,Ill &
Kentucky/arkansas have Harry Ortho Penick all over the place. He died in washington state in 1940. The fosters connect to New Bern area of Iowa. He married a Foster (secound marriage, I beleive.)My maternal grandmother was his daughter(Mildred Wadleigh Penick-Wadleigh's of Oquawka,Ill. & Hatley, Quebec a Loyalist town founder in part by Ephraim Wadleigh of Fisherfield-now Newport,N.H.). She lived at the Fosters in Franklin,La. & was married to Charles W. Morton,my grandfather in New Orleans,La. He was from Omaha,Neb. His father, James Morton was in the hardware business there. James's father was also named James & was in this business in Burlington,Iowa & came from Chester on the Dee river in England. He left a brother Frank in Chester, England. Many of these people & family summered in lower coastal maine together. This is where my grandparents first met I beleive. I will keep up the search & pass it on as to H.O.Penick. Respectfully,JWB
