Tom,
The information I have is that Edward was the son of John Pennock from Pennsylvania. He then migrated from Pennsylvannia to Virginia and established himself there in New Kent County. This is information which seems to be born out by the scant records available and correlates with the various timelines for the individuals concerned. I CANNOT prove all of this unequivocally, but as I said, it appears to be correct. There is information available on the website "The Pennock's of Primitive Hall" that when compared to the ship arrival and departure information tends to lead one in that direction. This would have to be substantiated by others in the family who are better researchers than I am. I would certainly welcome confirmation of my theory (or even a positive disproving of it)as either would be progress.
The information you have from your Aunt also curiously ties in with some information I have of a fortified Tower House (Penick Tower)that existed in the 1500-1600's just outside of Moray Firth in the Highlands. Possibly, (another theory), that of an English ancestor who settled there at the "request" of the Crown to assist in pacifying the area. The Tower no longer exists, but is on the list of the Scottish National Heritage sites. Undoubtedly, there is a connection here, and perhaps some of the famous Penick stubborness can assist in rooting it out.
