A Few Questions and Ideas

This message won’t be as long as my last one. I have just heard that T.E. Pendley passed away several years ago and all his research materials have been destroyed. This is a real loss for Pendley Family Genealogy. Although I’ve never seen his book, (I’d love to have a copy) I’ve been told that he didn’t include many references in his book. We must make sure Pendley research is never lost again.

Does anyone know if anyone has thought about, or made arrangements for, collecting Pendley Family history documents to one safe place? A place that would make the material available to all. I’m probably thinking about a College Library. If it hasn’t been discussed, we probably should start. If it has been discussed or arrangements have been made or are being make, please let me know. We can’t let the hard work and priceless information of any of the researchers be lost again. Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas about a depository for Pendley documents and research materials. (Do the Mormons do this type of service for families?) I was thinking a college library in North Carolina might be on top of my wish list. Seems Western North Carolina is where the Pendleys split up.

If anyone knows of any Pendley research that has a potential of being lost, for whatever reasons, please get in touch with me or get the researcher in touch with me.

My last request is I would like a list of all the individual Pendleys that immigrated to the US from wherever. Does this list already exist? If not, please send me any info. you have about any first generation Pendleys (I’m including all the spellings of our name.) My guess is that we all didn’t descend from the William Pendley that came over in the 1600s. (I could be wrong.)

Review of My Ramblings

1. We can’t let Pendley Family research be lost again. (I sure would like to have a copy of T.E. Pendley’s book.)

2. We need a safe site for Pendley Family history documents and research. Any ideas?

3. Send me info. about first generation Pendleys and Allied Families.

Thanks for your time and if you have any questions or comments, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Cousin Joe Pendley
