Many thanks for your reply. It dawned on me as I reviewed my thoughts on Rev. John's range of birth dates, that the only piece of data that placed my minimum date of 1788 was Mary "Polly"s death certificate listing her mother as Fanny Pendleton which if true would place Rev. John's birthdate >1788.
After recently running into several cases in my Franklin, Alley & Pendleton lines of faulty memories--often due to the young age @ time of death of descendants who had to rely on 2nd hand recollections of descendants of older siblings and/or relatives.
This is conceively what happened when Mary "Polly" died with her descendants, aware that her older sister's mother was Franky assumed that Mary's mother was one & the same.
I hereby change my "best guesstimate" of Rev. John's range of birthdates to 1780-1791 with a most probable date of 1782 & forward your posting with my comments to Dave for comments.
Also if Jody's still out there--it looks like we're slowly and hopefully surely confirming some of your family lore.
