Per the answer to a Petition lobbied in the General Assembly of the state of SC by Daniel Stevens, executor of the estate of Josiah Pendarvis, Sr. and inferred by all surviving petitions registered in the SC State Assembly Petitions, the third wife of Josiah Pendarvis was not Sarah, but Elizabeth Harris Stober/sometimes written Stobo. She had been nurse to both Josiah and his wife Mary Bedon and married Josiah shortly less than a year before his death.According to Daniel Stevens she died around two years after Josiah. The Sarah Pendarvis who died in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana was not wife to this Josiah. Most of the Richard Lambright Pendarvis history found in the Wayne County Library is conjecture and based on very little fact.Mary Bedon was living as late as mid-1785, and was not referred to as dead until 1786.There are several documents in the Miscellaneous Records Series and Renunciations of Dower which support this.
Richard Lambright Pendarvis died while his children were very small. Most of that families' information was drawn from oral history, per the records that you quote. One would logically ask by what authority did the information come.
Mobile County, AL census and death records record the existence of another James Pendarvis of about the same age who died in 1851.Do you have any evidence that James Washington Pendarvis and not the other James Pendarvis was the brother of Capt. William Henry Pendarvis?
