In the geneological DataBank - FOOTNOTE - there is a reproduced copy of a Cival War record for a S.A.Pence who is shown to be dispatched with the 36 calvary regiment in Virginia as a marksmanship sharpshooter-sniper. The record indicates that S.A.Pence was hurt and temporarily hospitalized in virgina and subsequently temporily released from miltary duty in Montgomery County Virgina where he had been hospitalized. I assume that he may havge had relatives in Montgomery county virginia, at that time. Could this S.A. Pence be SINGULAR AUGUSTUS PENCE- son of John Pence and Ann Nancy Waggoner? , and husband of Sara Ann (Winniford) Pence?. Singular Augustus Pence is listed in the illinois land records as S.A.Pence. I also seem to recall in the Hunt county Land Records as well. According to Pence Oral Family Knowledge and information handed down thru William Henry Pence's Branch of the Pence Family Descendants ( More specifically, From Uncle John J. Pence told to Luther Jackson Pence Of Sweetwater, Texas(now Desceased) ) is that Singular Augustus Pence's Wife and children- John Johnson(J.)Pence, William Henry(H.)Pence, Mary Emmerline(E.)Pence, and their other 2 children(dau.s) were living here in Texas during the Cival War. I have free acess to FOOTNOTE,s Databank thru San Antonio, Texas Public Library's subscription to FOOTNOTE Databank. Would any of the other pence researchers researching on Singular Augustus Pence Branch of family as well as the other pence and pence-related branches from the brothers and sisters of Singular Augustuws Pence,and from the Winniford and Waggoner side (family researchers) take a closer look at this . I Might ask at this point in my message to everybody, when are all of the Descendsants from Singular Augustus Pence and Sara Ann Winniford ever going to get together for a Pence Family Reunion?.
