I am also interested in the origin of the Pembroke name in America.
My Pembrokes came from NY to Illinois previous to 1830. I am not certain of his first name because it is different everytime I find him. Ellahn (Elisha, Ellen, Ellahu) was born abt 1802 in NY, married Louisa Noland in 1833 in Madison Co., IL.
I recently purchased a wonderful book "The Pembroke Papers" by Lord Herbert. Henry Herbert, was the 10th Earl of Pembroke. (1734-1780) The book includes letters and diaries of Henry and his "circle". It also includes a genealogy chart of "The Pembroke Family".
I would like to learn more about the New York Pembrokes. Also would like to find out if there is a connection between Enos Pembroke and Ellahn Pembroke. They appear to have come to Illinois about the same time period.
