SAMUEL PELOT, early 1800s SC
Posted by: BETSY Date: January 09, 2000 at 09:39:07
  of 76

My gggrandfather was Samuel Pilot b. 1818 (in SC. on census data)
He died 10/31/1884 in Choctaw Co., AL. My family seems to think that he was an orphan? or was abducted for possible ransom and was taken to AL.
Are there any stories in the Pelot family that a child was lost? Did Samuel Pelot have any children?
On Samuel Pilot's tombstone there is no month or date of birth as if he did not know them which would substantiate the orphan or abduction theory. He could have been born in GA if the abduction theory is correct (the travelers from SC could have picked him up along the way-and I think they traveled through GA)
Any help would be appreciated.
Betsy Pylate
