Dear John,
Are you a descendant of Evert Evertszen Pels?
Reason to ask is that there are two spelling
variants: Pell and Pels. The former was
the name of an Englishman who came to NYC
in 1600s.I descend from the latter. I
realise that some of his descendants spell
Pels variously: Pells, Pelszer, Peltzer, Pultzer.Evert Pels came in 1648 from
Amsterdam, Netherlands, to New Netherlands (now New York City).Accompanying were his
wife, Jannetje Simons Floriszen also of
Amsterdam, Netherlands, and a servant. Most
of his descendants still live in New York,
mostly in Dutchess County.Evert Pels was born in 1616 and died in 1686. I have his
children. If interested, I would gladly
share the information.
