Charles Pelham moved to Mason Co., KY by the early 1800's along with his wife, Isabella Atkinson. They had a large family, including John (b. 1805) and Ann Crease (b. 1808). At that early time in KY, there was also a John Pelham, a contemporary of Charles' and possibly his brother. I don't know if John Pelham had a family - can't find any record of it. It's possible the 1827 Indiana marriage is for that John Pelham. Charles had a brother, William B. Pelham (b. 10 Aug 1759 in Williamsburg, VA) who married a cousin, Penelope Pelham, in 1801 in Boston. They had a son, William Crease Pelham, born about 1802 in Boston. This William Crease Pelham married Victoria Columbia Gex and they had four children, Lewis, Henry, Victoria, and William C. - all born in New Harmony, IN. The parents died in 1846 and 1850, and the children all went to live with their great aunt by marriage, Isabella Atkinson Pelham (widow of Charles Pelahm), and their great uncle Henry Pelham in Maysville, KY. On 09 Nov 1859 John Pelham (son of Charles and Isabella) married Susan T. McDonough in Mason Co., KY. In 1858, John's sister, Anne Crease Pelham had married Alexander Miller in Madison Co., KY. I've learned a great deal about this Pelham family in the process of finding out that the John Pelham, my husband's ancester, while also born in KY in 1805, was not this John Pelham from Mason Co. Wish he had been. It's a very well-documented family Anyway, can't help you with the Hatcher child. One possibility - William Crease Pelham, father of the children living with Isabella on the 1850 census, had several sisters, and I don't have any marriage data for any of them. Crease was the maiden name of Charles, Henry, and the other 11 children of Peter Pelham's wife, Ann Crease. Don't know why Elijah would have given the name to his firstborn if he wasn't from that family. Kathy Marsh, Pelham DNA Project Administrator Notify Administrator about this message?
