Thanks, Jeanette, for the information. I knew he was buried at Golden Gate National Cemetery, but did not know the other dates you provided. it is interesting that he entered service at the age of 41.

I have recently found out that Gordon was the son of Eliza F Davis, who was born in Alabama in 1882, the daughter of Henry A Davis and Salome P. In 1900 Eliza F Pelham lived with her father in Halesburg, Henry Co, AL, and listed her son as Evatus Pelham. In 1910, again she lived with her father, and used the name Davis for herself and her son.

Eliza, about 1911, married William E Glover, and lived in 1920 in Haleburg, and in 1930 in Headland. IN 1930, Salome Davis lived with Eliza. (There is a possibility that Salome was Salome Penuel.)

In 1920, Evatus's wife, Mary Jane Jackson, lived as a neice of Henry T Lane in Keysburg, Geneva, AL. With Mary J is her son, Walter C Pelham. Mary is listed as married, but Evatus is not in the household.

In 1930 Gorden E Pelham lived in Umatilla, Lake Co, FL with Mary J and daughter, Letha M Pelham.

Still looking for the identity of Evatus' father and for the parents of Mary Jane Jackson.
