Douglas,
I don't know, but I am looking for a Clarinda Pearce who would have been born ca. 1740-45. My Pearces were in NJ probably by 1760s. The Coreys, who were refugees from LI and CT were in Sussex Co., NJ at least in the 1770s. Temperance Corey, daughter of Elizabeth and Jonathan(?) Corey married Abraham Shepard who died in 1778. One of their daughters, Mary Shepard, married my 3g grandfather Willis Pearce. In this way, my Pearce line traces to Coreys . Willis and Mary Pearce had 9 children, 7 sons and 2 daughters. The daughters were named 1. Clarinda, and 2. Elizabeth. I think Clarinda comes from Willis Pearce's side and may be the name of Willis' mother. I don't know where they came from, but would expect Suffolk Co., LI, or CT, or RI. Your Clarinda is the age to be a sister or cousin to Willis, and/or might have had a mother named Clarinda; what doesn't fit is her being born in RI after this family migrated to NJ, if she was connected to mine. I am aware of your Clarinda in Oneida Co., NY; there were Pearces there from NH, earlier MA who joined mine in Benton, Ontario Co. where they migrated ca. 1805. The Oneida Co. Clarinda Pearce is the only other one I have found other than my gg aunt. Have you ever found any more on her?
