Her name was Ann Spencer and she was born in 1781.Nancy was her nickname. Her older brother William Samuel Spencer is believed to have been born in 1776. If Judge Samuel married Tisdale in 1768, there were long gaps in the children (these are the only two recorded children for this marriage), probably explained by infant mortality. I have the information on her descendants and will look up and send along. The family always said that she and her husband, Claudius, III, were cousins, but this was not true if her mother was Tisdale. Judge Spencer was was married FIRST to Philippa Pegues, who diedin 1768. She borehim two young sons who apparently died at birth or soon after, Samuel and Claudius, and a daughter, Mary Pegues Spencer, born 1767 or 1768, who married Isaac Jackson in 1784. The things that have been reported that she was born in 1770 and married in 1782 at age 12 have no basis in fact. Her father gave her a marriage settlement of property in 1784, and that's the nearest to a marriage record that can be found.
