Actually it was originally spelled Pegloi
A long time ago the ancesrors were horse herdsman, and from this profession developed the name Pegloi. These people lived in the western part of Germany called Westphalen. The name Pegloi is the joining two words Peg and Loi. The word Peg comes from an old German dialect meaning horse and the word Loi comes from an old German dialect meaning lion. There is a family crest showing a horse and a lion on it. Durig the 30 years war many people livig Westphalen migrated to an area called Pmmern. There the name Pegloi transformed into Peglow, because of the dialect which was spoken there.
