I have put a few notes about Alexander Peers, mostly from Brown, at http://www.genealogycanada.ca/kingston/piers.htmhttp://www.genealogycanada.ca/kingston/piers.htm
I have looked closely at the tax lists and find Samuel, Caleb and Alexander in Fredericksburgh, which was in Dutchess County at the time, but is Putnam County Now. I don't want to extend the Alexander line because it's all in Brown anyway. I am interested in Alexander and his brother Samuel, whom I document at greater length, as New York Loyalists. Regarding the general interpretation of their petitions, it seems clear that there has been a misunderstanding between Philipsburgh, in Westchester NY and Philips Upper Manor, of which Fredericksburgh was part. I have found them on Tax lists and they are from the latter.
