I've been derelict in replying to some postings you made several years ago. I ran across your work on the Peed Page put together by OhHiTroy. Some references there by Stella Peed Genry complete the information June Philips gave me.
My Great great grandfather, Joseph N Fowler married Minerva Peed in 1856. According to June Philips, Minerva is descended from Jesse Peed of Person, NC through Samuel Peed.
In one of the postings on Genforum you mentioned Fowlers NC and a Fowler who died in the Civil War. I don't believe this is my Fowler. I found a Mortality Index from Pike County that indicated James Fowler, Polly Brenton's husband died in Pike County IN. It indicates he was born in KY about 182. I need to spend time on the Fowlers in KY and NC. Stella Genry's posting opened up the Fowler connection in NC again. I spent a lot of time 15 years ago trying to trace a connection in those Quaker counties near Elizabeth City. Now I have a new place to look.
I have found a Revolutionary War pension application from 1832 by a Richard Peed. He was 88 and living in Person County, NC. He claimed to have been drafted out of Matthews County, VA. I found it on Heritage Quest. The index is VA, Series m805, roll 642 file r17011. One of the witnesses is John Hicks. Minerva Peed's mother was Katherine Hicks.
I need to digest this information more. I hope you are still working on the Peeds. Do you know if Mrs. Gentry is still working? An email I tried to send was undeliverable.
