John Peebles, born 1765, a term of his natural life convict found guilty of unknown crime in 1794 in Co Fermanagh Ireland (be that northern or Eire) was transported to Australia as a convict in 1796 on the ship Marquis Cornwallis.
I have conducted a search on Latter Day Saints website familysearch.com and found no such person born in Ireland according to that database however a search for scotland reveals he was born in 1765 at Falkirk Parish, Stirling, Scotland. This person is indicated to have married Christian FINLAY ON 12 Dec 1789 Falkirk Parish, Stirling Scotland.Could this have been the same person as the convict.?Would the good professor mentioned in your listing be kind enough to indicate steps to be taken and authorities to be consulted to endeavour to find out what the prisoner's crime was and if in fact he was the same John Peebles.
I am also at a loss totrace forebears of an ancestor one Alexander PEEBLES who married Isabell Arthur on 4 Dec 1853 at Kettle, Fife, Scotland.Isabell's parents were John Arthur and Isabella Spence who were married on 13 May 1825 also at Kettle.Details of descendants can be provided on request.
Regards,
Chris Peebles
