I am a third great-grandson of Nathaniel Peebles through his son Abram (Abraham Hubbard Jehu Peebles), brother of Seth Newton Peebles. There was never a tradition of Native American ancestry in my line of the family, nor of Quaker affiliation. Henshaw's "Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy" would answer that question. Some of the Peebles cousins in Prince George County, Virginia, were Quakers for a time, but returned to the Anglican faith; some of that branch are buried at Blandford Church (Anglican) at Petersburg. The Peebles were Anglicans in Virginia and seem to have become Methodists after the Revolutionary War in North Carolina. Abram Peebles (1804-1864), born in Rowan/Davidson County, NC, died Henry County, GA, was a Methodist, notwithstanding that his wife was the daughter of a Baptist preacher.
