I agree. His first wife was the sister in law to Charlotte. She was married to Henry Peters, brother of Julie Ann. This was just prior to her removal to Lowndes Co Mississippi. What was Seth's social position in the county? Did he hold office or was he an attorney? I really do not know much about him since he is not in my line, however, he is living right in the middle of my group. Was he a Quaker? In a previous post, we discussed the Native issue and I agree that I do not believe that he himself is a Native American however I am trying to understand what his role is in the Gaston area of Northampton Co. I previously stated that he had bound himself with Hardiman Poythress over the estate of John Poythress. Yesterday, I located the 2 land sales of my James Poythress and his brother John Poythress and this land was bound by the land of Charlotte Peters and Seth Peebles. These were dated 1827. Both boys had 95 acres each and both were lost due to a Writ from Pleas and Quarters Court. I will not bother with details regarding Charlotte Peters but Peters is one of the prominant names of the Portuguese Settlement located in Gaston, along with Poythress, Scott and Turner. Again, just trying to understand the dynamics occurring in the area during the early 1800's and what roles certain persons are playing. Crystal Notify Administrator about this message?
