Could be??!!
This is what I know of the family history.
I am Charles George Pedley.
This is what I know of our family history.
My dad was Charles Wesley Pedley, born Feb. 2, 1907 in Halifax Nova Scotia .
My dad's grandfather was William Pedley born in Staffordshire, England. He was a master tailor which qualified him to teach tailoring. He moved around and for a while lived in Killonakilty, County Cork, Ireland where he married and Irish girl (who?). They had two sons. One was drowned early in life and the other was Wes's father (my dad was called Wes). His father's name was Charles ARnold Pedley, born about 1874.
Going back to William... William's wife, unfortunately, became an alcoholic at times selling the children's shoes to get her booze. She died fairly young, and William married again. He had two daughter's by this marriage, Ida and Stella. My mother did not know Aunt Stella but did know Aunt Ida quite well.
Aunt Ida married a Jim Anderson who became a Master at Arms in the Royal Navy. They lived in a posh residence guarded by navy personnel, and had one son, Alex Anderson who became a policeman and worked in London. When Jim retired from the navy, he and Aunt Ida kept a pub i n Plymouth, Devonshire, England. Both buried in Plymouth.
William Pedley's sister Rose was connected with the pottery business in Staffordshire England. Mom believed she married a Hammersley, which is a fairly common brand of China.
My dad's father, was in the merchant marines. On account of his mother's alcoholism, he was very much against alcohol, refusing to drink at all. Interestly enough, it was this very fact that probably saved him when he was stricken with yellow fever off the coast of Africa. The brandy they poured into him ws most effective s he hadn't had any before.
My grandfather, Charles Arnold Pedley, (Dad's dad), met and married Edith Mary Cudlip and moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia where my dad, Wes, his sister Edith, and brother Joseph ARnold were born. He became the head electrician at the Halifax harbour and was killed in the Halifax explosion of 1917 when my dad was only 11. He is buried in Fairview Cemetery, Halifax.
William Cudlip was my grandmother's brother who had lived in Alabama and fought with Canada in WWII.
Edith Mary Cudlip, my grandmother was born in the 1880's. Her grandmother maried a marine by the name of Andrews.
Can you fill in any missing pieces?
