NC and GA Peddy Relationships

Hello,

Did the Peddy family of Washington Co., GA arrive there from NC or did the two families develop from one or more other sources at the same time?

I'm a grandson of Julius Edgar Peddy (b. May 21, 1878 in Washington, Co., GA; d. April 09, 1973; married about 1932 in GA to Dorothy Suzanna Hattaway). He was the son of James Peddy, b. 1831 in GA. Married Dec. 21, 1854 in Washington City, GA. James Peddy was the son of Julius Peddy of NC. Did Julius Peddy (or perhaps his parents, some time after he was born) bring the name to Washington Co., GA or did he and anybody with him hook up with some already present Washington Co., GA Peddy family members?

I'm in Raleigh, NC (Wake Co.). There are a couple of Peddy names in this area today; any idea as to their relationship? I'm looking at one in the phone book right now.
