Hellop Karen;
I don't know if I can help much. My daughter-in-law was a Pevey. she is the daughter of Jack Pevey. He is the son of John Herbert Pevey Of Hattisburg Mississippi. b.09/28/1900. he was the son of James Arthur Pevey b.05/11/1864 d.10/07/1929 and Frances Emmeline Renfro b.01/29/1870. James Arthur is burried in Arcata Ca. and she is burried in Hattisburg Ms. James Arthurs father was Little Berry Pevey and his second wife. Louraney (Lurainey)
Angeline Reid. Little Berrys father was Ambrose Pevey.
This is about all I have at this time. I have gotten most of this off the internet. I just put the Peavy family genealogy forum on the search space and came up with the forum where a lot of people are looking for Peavy/Pevey and other spellings. I read somewhere that the people of that time period could not read or write and the person doing the recording spelled the name the way it sounded to them. They are probley all related. Sorry I could nopt be of more help. Virginia
