Jay, I checked my records and I don't have your g.grandfather Hiram in them, nor any of his children that you mention, however I think I may have his father William listed as one of my "dead ends"...a line on which I have no further info. I have a William Peaslee/Peasley that was born between 1795 and 1805, most likely in Danville, VT, who moved with his family to Stanstead, Quebec in 1803, and the family later moved "out West" from there. Of course in those days, "out West" could easily have been Ontario from Quebec, or even the wilds of Michigan. I have no further information on this William, but what makes me think it is possible is the sibling names and the names of his nieces and nephews, which I do have on record: This William was born as one of 8 children (order unknown) to Jedediah Peaslee and Judith Hunt. The eight children were named: Mary, James, Samuel, Hannah, Betsey, Sally, Nancy and William. Jedediah was born in 1757 in Newton, NH and moved to Danville, VT, and then onto Canada and parts west. Samuel's 6 children (William's brother) include a: Lucy, Samuel, Leonard, Hiram, Norman and James. I was checking out this Hiram to see if he was your relative, and although he was born about 1820, I have two marriages and six children listed for him in the US, and none of them was a William born in 1850. I think this Hiram was probably a cousin of your Hiram. (There were several other Hirams in the records, but none any closer in matching geography or similarity of names than this one). Jedediah was the 10th of 10 children born to John Peaslee and Lydia White. John was born in 1707 in Haverhill, MA, and moved to Newton, NH. John was the second of 11 children born to John Peaslee and Mary Martin. This John was born in 1679 in Haverhill, MA, and was fourth of 8 children born to Joseph Peaslee and Ruth Barnard. Joseph Peaslee was born in 1646 and was the fifth of 5 children born to the original immigrant Joseph Peaslee and Mary Johnson. I have no proof that this William is your missing connection to the rest of the family tree (the rest of which you can find in a dozen places on the web), but if you wanted someplace to begin searching for state (and province) records, you might concentrate on the children of this Jedediah. Hope this proves helpful, Graham Peaslee Holland, MI Notify Administrator about this message?
