Benjamin PEARSON (1722-1788) m. Agatha BROOKS & Margaret EVANS
Dear Friends,
I was told a long time ago that my Benjamin PEARSON (1722-1788) was first married to Agatha BROOKS, daughter of Jacob BROOKS, but I have never seen documentation of those facts. It would be very nice if all of us who descend from that union could nail it down.
And while we are at it, what about the parentage of Margaret EVANS, Benjamin's 2nd wife and the ancestress of a lot more of us?Do any of you have documentation about that marriage? There was another EVANS named Joseph who married Esther BUFFINGTON.What do you know about him and his family?
Jacob BROOKS took up land in the Bush River SC area before 1760 according to the SC Plat Books.During the Cherokee Wars (c1759-62) a fort was built on his land and he was commissioned to command it.Owning adjacent land was Benjamin PEARSON, whom I believe to have been Jacob's son-in-law.It appears that Benjamin's first wife was Agatha BROOKS, who died at about that time.Does anyone know what (if any) was the relationship between Jacob and Agatha BROOKS?The BROOKS family eludes me.I am also looking for information on the Joseph EVANS family who lived in the area as well. Please help me if you can.
Desparately seeking Agatha,
Paul C. Palmer
