Mary, From what I have been able to determine from chasing my particular clan of Pearson's, they appear to have been in Indiana during the 1820's arriving in Arkansas by the mid 1830's and traveling to Texas in the 1850's.
My original subject line had Ohio which came from a Census Enumeration from Limestone County Texas in 1850 for my Gr-Gr-Grandmother, Elisebeth (Pearson) Cox, her place of birth on the 1860 Census for Travis County Texas is listed as Ind which matches all of the rest of the family around her.
