In the transcription of the 1854 Anson Co. NC Will of MARTHA A. PEARSON, she named her sons Clinton and Benjamin Pearson as having given them their shares previous to the will and had a quit claim to that affect.

Martha also named others in her will as :

Martha gave William P. Johnson a TRUST for the use of his wife and Martha's daughter, ELIZA, a good portion of the estate.

Martha gave to her grandsons, $1,000 who were : JAMES, WILLIAM, and HERBERT PEARSON JOHNSON.

Martha also gave her nephew FRANCIS ROGERS $1,000 ( son of Martha's brother BENJAMIN ROGERS also named in this will )

Martha also gave her nephew BENJAMIN A. ROGERS $1,000 ( son of Martha's brother ROBERT ROGERS also named in her will ).

Martha stated in her will that she had heretofore given sevaral thousand dollars to her son FRANCIS M. PEARSON.

Martha also stated that she gave her other son RICHMOND N. PEARSON a TRUST of $8,000 for the use of Martha's daughter EMMA TULLIS, and specified in her will that RICHMOND pay Emma an annual sum of interest of $500, and that the balance of the remaining $8,000 at time of death of Emma be given in equal shares to Martha's other sons , FRANCIS, and RICHMOND, and Martha's daughters SARAH STEWART and MARGARET PEARSON.

Martha also divided up the slaves to each of her children and also gave her daughter MARGARET PEARSON her riding carriage, and carriage horses.

Martha also gave her two daughters SARAH STEWART and MARGARET PEARSON equal shares of her library, etc.

We are most interested to know if MARTHA A. PEARSON had the maiden name of ROGERS as we suppose she did if her brothers were ROBERT and BENJAMIN ROGERS mentioned in this will. We need to know where in Anson Co. NC the land may have been that Martha Pearson owned and where ROBERT and BENJAMIN ROGERS then lived at the time of Martha's death or afterwards.

Most of our ROGERS were in Anson Co. NC in 1774 - 1779 but their land was taken to create new county of Montgomery Co. NC in 1779 which was the upper part of Anson Co. NC. Our ROGERS are JAMES ROGERS Sr., James Rogers, Jr., Frederick Rogers, William Rogers, John Rogers, Zachariah Rogers and are on the 1790, 1800, 1810 Montgomery Co. NC Census's as were a BEJAMIN ROGERS and a JOHN ROGERS. After 1800 Benjamin Rogers seemed to disappear from Montgomery Co. NC and we then see a BENJAMIN ROGERS listed on the 1820 Anson Co. NC Census.

If anyone knows of this ROGERS/ PEARSON family, please post and list their birth years and death years if known and the locations in which they were born and died, if known.

I suspect the JOHNSON family may have moved to MS/ LA area but am not sure.

Our Rogers moved from Montgomery Co. NC to Carroll Co. TN and some are believed to be located in Hamilton Co. OHIO by 1814.

Our ROGERS DNA is in and we match many, many ROGERS groups and we all seem to be matching a group whose paper trail indicates that they are out of the line of JOHN ROGERS b. 1617 England, who arrived in JAMESTOWN VA in 1635 aboard ship "GEORGE" and JOHN ROGERS then served in HOUSE OF BURGESS as well as participated in the BACONS REBELLION and lived in SURRY CO. VA. This line of ROGERS slowly migrated into NC,and perhaps into SC/ GA and other southern states.

Please post if this sounds familiar.

Tina
