I'm looking to share information on Jeremiah Pearson, born 1735-1740, who received a land warrant in South Carolina on 1772. This plat was located on a small branch of Second Creek, above Broad River, in the forks of the Broad and Saluda Rivers in what is now Newberry County, South Carolina. It was then Berkeley, one of the four original Colonial counties. This was one of the grants in this area which became known as the "Dutch Fork". He may be the same Jeremiah Pearson who served in the 1754 White Oak militia in Onslow County, NC.

Jeremiah served in the revolution as a soldier in the Camden District in 1781 and 1782, and was paid for service in South Carolina. His File reads: File 5, #629, Issued 13 September 1785 to Jer. Pearson for Five Pounts Seven and 10 pence for duty and c in 1781 and 1782 per. a/c from commissioners Principal L5-71-10 1/2 Annual Ind. Lo-7-6. Alley's Stub Indents #629 Book V.

Jeremiah reportedly died in Monroe County Georgia, where he resided in an area that became part of Upson County, Georgia. His reputed daughter, Rebecca, married Benjamin Matthews in Warren County, on Dec 6 1806, andis buried in Upson County inthe Trice family cemetery. She is often reported to be Rebecca Pierson Brown, a widow, but the marriage license does not support that. Another daughter, Sarah, married Vincent Allentharpe.
