Hi Kathy, Thanks for your reply. I was not aware of sons of the marriage of Silas Pearse and Maria Grigg. This is what I currently have: Silas PEARSE married Maria GRIGG in 1817. Maria was born 1789 Tywardreath, Cornwall. She died 1877 in Morpeth, NSW (Australia). I think that the daughters were born in Plymouth. Eliza Jane PEARSE married Philip WRIGHT in 1840 in NSW. She died 1909 in Armidale, NSW Ellen PEARSE married James HANNAFORD 1841 in NSW. She died 1911 in Woollahra, NSW. Maria PEARSE married William MARTYN IN 1849 AT "BICKHAM", NSW. She died in 1896 at Murrurundi, NSW. My understanding is that Maria arrived in Sydney with her daughters looking for Silas. He had disappeared. There is a record in Tasmania of a marriage in 1843 of a Silas Pearse and Mary Cornish and I have wondered if this is our man. I have requested details of births and burials in name of Pearse from Devon Family History Society and if I find anything I will send follow-up email. Incidently, the Pearse, Wright, Martyn, Hannaford, Grigg families all hail from Devon/Cornwall area. Regards Diane Notify Administrator about this message?
