Captain Nathaniel Pearre, GA

To follow up on my 8-3-2001 posting, I now find that Captain Nathaniel Pearre, of the Georgia Continental Brigade, transported the State's records, principally belonging to the Office of the Secretary of State, from safekeeping in Maryland back to Savannah. To keep them out of the hand of the British, the records had been moved from Savannah to Charleston, SC, to New Bern, NC, and then to Maryland. The return of the records was accomplished about six months after the treaty was signed between Great Britain and the United States. These records were almost the only public papers of Georgia that were preserved.

Does anyone know Captain Pearre's place in the family?

John Hornady
